Big Shoulders International Film Festival: Oscar Shorts 'Edith & Eddie' & Sing'

Join us for a screening of two Oscar shorts. First, the 2017 short live-action winner 'Sing' with filmmaker Kristof Deak and 2018 Oscar Nominee Laura Checkoway's short documentary 'Edith + Eddie.'

Sing: Zsofi is struggling to fit in at her new school - singing in the school's famous choir is her only consolation. But the choir director may not be the inspirational teacher everyone thinks she is... It will take Zsofi and her new friend Liza to teach their teacher a lesson.

Based on a true story, SING follows an award-winning school choir and the new girl in class facing a tough choice: to stand up against a corrupt system - or to fit quietly into it.

Edith and Eddie, ages 96 and 95, are America's oldest interracial newlyweds. Their love story is disrupted by a family feud that threatens to tear the couple apart.

Big Shoulders International Student Film Festival is dedicated to presenting the work of innovative student filmmakers from around the world. We are a front row seat to the world's stories. It is our mission to promote diversity and inclusion by showcasing the work of emerging young voices and unique ways of storytelling. DePaul University students actively participate in organizing the festival, selecting the films, and hosting the event.

This event is co-sponsored by DePaul's Division of Mission and Ministry.
