Composition Workshop and Master Class with Julio Estrada

The DePaul School of Music is pleased to welcome composer, theoretician, historian and pedagogue, Julio Estrada, for a unique master class opportunity. Born in Mexico City in 1943 following his family’s exile from Spain, Estrada began his musical studies in 1953 with Julián Orbón before going on to Paris and later Germany studying with Nadia Boulanger, Messiaen, Stockhausen and Ligeti. He has written nearly a hundred articles based on his research and is the General Editor of the most complete publication on Mexican music history, La Música de México. This event begins with a lecture at 10 am, a short lunch break at noon, followed by a demonstration and workshop to conclude the class.
