Please come join us in celebration and community for one of our favorite evenings of the quarter, Dandelions in the Concrete: Reclaiming and Constructing Our Memories. Dandelions is an open event that welcomes students, faculty, community members, and their friends and families to create a space that cultivates a sense of transformation and healing for all bodies and people. There will be arts and crafts, food, storytelling, self-care practices, and an open mic.
Dandelions is also a night dedicated to relationship building and practices of transformative justice within communities at DePaul and Chicago. It’s also the perfect opportunity to meet new people! With this years theme in mind, join us in engaging with the practices of archiving our memories and preserving our histories. There will be great food, music, a book swap table (please bring a book to take a book!), an archive box/Dandelions time-capsule, and a film screening in the Women’s Center. Also, please BRING CASH to purchase Zine’s and make donations to student organizations!
This year we will also be celebrating the release of the first issue of Myth Mag - a zine for and by people of color edited and curated by Sydney Haliburton and Shana Bahemat. The first issue, Earth and Water, involves themes of home, movement, migration, displacement, and diaspora - how these things affect time, bodies, memory, relationships etc. This zine features poetry, photography, short stories, and art by people of color in the diaspora. Physical copies will be available at the event and a digital version will be released shortly after.
If you have any questions please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to seeing you there!
