DePaul 2019 Chinese New Year Gala

This is DePaul University’s 11th annual celebration of Chinese lunar new year (the Year of the Pig 猪年). Come out to enjoy authentic lunar new year food and exciting cultural performances. It is also a great opportunity to network with new and old friends with interest in China and other Asian countries and regions. All DePaul students, alumni, faculty, staff, as well as family and friends outside the DePaul community are welcome to attend. Free and open to the public. Family-friendly.

Dress code: business casual or festival clothing.


Tentative Agenda:

6:00-7:00PM Registration, Networking & Cultural Activities

6:30-7:30PM Buffet Dinner

7:30-7:40PM New Year Remarks

7:40-9:00PM Cultural Performances

Born in a year of the Pig (2007, 1995, 1983, 1971, 1959, 1947, 1935)? Provide your name when you check in and you will have an opportunity to win a Year of the Pig gift. 10 winners will be announced at the end of the event. 


  • Public transportation: take the "L" Line (brown or red) and get off at the "Fullerton" station.

The only thing that went wrong with event, was running out of food early on and having to wait for the arrive of more to feed crowd. Other then that setback this event was great.

I think it was poorly organized and they ran out of food with almost half of the people still waiting to eat. Some of the performers did a great job. This was my second time going and it was a bio difference. In 2017 it was a great fun filled event.
