The Wind Symphony performed excellently, in the wonderful new concert hall. It was interesting to view the video regarding the construction of the new facility, and it made me appreciate the woodworking much more, especially the front wall which looks like drapery, yet is really wood.

I especially liked the "conductorless" piece, in which the students needed to listen and watch each other for cues. The balance and coordination was very good.

As a performer myself, I understand purposeful stage seating, yet it was disappointing to have to wait after EVERY piece, while chairs were being reset. Please, in the future, minimize this. There was also a great deal of "noodling" as the students re-took their seats. This is not necessary, not is if fun to listen to. Lastly, encourage careful listening to pitch. Many of the brass section tended sharp. Lower the major thirds, raise the minor thirds, and make sure the open intervals are spot-on. Lastly, I think the ensemble could benefit by having at least one more tuba.

Keep up the good work!
