2nd Annual Tolton Essay Contest Awards Presentation

with Most Reverend Joseph N. Perry (bio)
~Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago
~Archdiocesan Advocate of Fr. Tolton's Cause for Sainthood

Join us to hear the story of America's first African-American Catholic priest as told by Bishop Joseph Perry and the 1st Place winner of this year's Tolton Essay Contest. Bishop Perry will also present awards to both the 1st and 2nd place student winners.

Born in 1854, Fr. Tolton escaped slavery, endured small-town racism, and ultimately became a beloved priest in our own Chicago, completing his seminary studies in Rome, Italy, when no American seminary would open its doors to him. His story is one of drama, difficulty, suffering, and achievement that continues to inspire us today.
