Description: Kids and parents self defense workshop. Learn self defense techniques that can be practiced together at home and are beneficial to both parents and kids. In addition there will be fun partner exercises to get you on the path of a healthy and active lifestyle.
90 Minute workshop
10 Minute Partner Warm-Up (Must remain and complete the warm up with their partner) 1 min. each of : Slow jog, high knees, heels to the butt, inside shuffle, outside shuffle, bear crawl, forward lunges, crab walk, side lunges, mountain climbers.
30 Minutes of Defense Strikes (Parents/children will partner up with other parents/children. This is so the children can practice techniques on adults and on other children, as well give parents have an opportunity to practice the same techniques on other adults.)
Curriculum to include - Good stance, hammer fists, elbows, knees - Attack points on an opponent and which strikes to use - Escapes from wrist grabs - Defenses from lapel grabs and chokes - Escapes and defenses against rear chokes
30 Minutes of Ground Defenses (Parents and children will partner up for this too) Curriculum to include - How to fall down - How to get up correctly - Scissor kicks - Escaping the guard through hip kicks and attacking the elbows - Escaping the mount through trapping the elbow and knee
