DePaul Center (DPC), The Collaboratory 1 E Jackson Blvd
Faculty as well as library staff with an interest in digital humanities are invited to the lab for a meet-and-greet with wine and cheese, as well as a demo featuring Crimson Hexagon.
Crimson Hexagon (CH) is a sophisticated software for social media listening, analytics, and insights. This technology is rooted in an algorithm that classifies social media content by identifying statistical patterns in words and images. CH has been used in the College of Communication's iLab to study digital news, political and corporate campaigns, public relations, advertising, hashtag activism and other online phenomena as they pertain to social media. An introduction to CH and its functionality will be presented by Hai L. Tran, whose areas of specialization include data journalism, communication technology, and research methodology.
