The Return of the Mega Development: Large-Scale Projects that Could Transform Chicago and its Suburbs

Massive redevelopment projects, including The 78, the Main Post Office, and Lincoln Yards in Chicago, and the McDonald’s Campus in Oak Brook, are attracting a great deal of publicity. Reminiscent of “mega developments” of the 1970s, like Dearborn Park and Illinois Center, these vast mixed-use initiatives are poised to transform large swaths of city and suburban land.  Join us for a half-day symposium reviewing the planning and real-estate dimensions of these and other ambitious projects. We will explore their scope, attributes, and underlying economics to gain a better understanding of their significance for the Chicago-area region.

Featured speakers: Alica Davis, Senior Analyst at Gensler, Fred Krol, Director of Government & Community Relations at Sterling Bay, George Kisiel, President at Okrent Kisiel Associates, Inc, Wesley LeBlanc, Analystics Director at Gensler and Alderman Brendan Reilly, 42nd Ward.
