Fighting the Cis-tem: Current Issues in Transgender Law

Please join us for a discussion with Lark Mulligan (’17), a collective member of the Transformative Justice Law Project, about recent updates in federal and Illinois laws that impact transgender people, and currents issues fortrans people in the criminal legal system. From arrest, to court proceedings, to incarceration, to parole and collateral consequences, criminalized trans people face multiple barriers to justice resulting from the intersections of transphobia, racism, classism, sexism, and ableism. As a transgender criminal defense attorney, Lark will also facilitate a discussion about the complexities of acting as a legal advocate for a community that one is a part of.
