#Catholic, Vincent de Paul, Pope Leo XIV, Robert Prevost, Vincentian, Ozanam, Daughters of Charity, TheologyThe election of Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost (Pope Leo XIV), a Chicago native whose parents attended DePaul University, invites us to take a closer look at the connection between the Vincentian family and the papacy.
This symposium, organized by the Vincentian Studies Institute here at DePaul, gathers scholars from around the country and the world to deliver eight presentations that connect the Vincentian family—defined as all lay and religious, male and female branches, organizations, and community members with ties to Vincent de Paul—to the papacy.
The symposium acts as a complement to Pope Leo XIV: From the Americas, For the World, a conference that begins on the Lincoln Park Campus the next day, April 30; it is hosted by the Center for World Catholicism & Intercultural Theology.
