About this Event
2320 N Kenmore Ave
#BlackHistoryMonthJoin the DePaul University Library for a screening of A Long Way From Holmes, a feature length documentary by DePaul Alumna Raja’Nee Redmond. This film follows a Chicagoan with questions about her Southern roots back to the south; finding some answers and even more questions about what our ancestors, and us, their descendants are owed, finding parallels all of these years later.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion between Raja’Nee Redmond and cofounders Jourdan Brunson and Meshia Rudd-Ridge of Kinkofa, an organization committed to bringing generations together to uncover, record, and preserve Black family stories with pride and dignity. The panel will be moderated by Je-Shawna Wholley, Founder of Earthseed Black Family Archive Project.
Join us for fellowship and learn more about how to research your family history and ancestral inheritance. Leave feeling inspired to answer your ancestor’s call and with some insight on where to start.
