Acoustical Tour of the Holtschneider Performance Center with Chicago Ideas

Did you know that everything from the fabric on chairs to the material on walls impacts the sound in a concert hall? Our new Holtschneider Performance Center contains four different concert halls, ranging from the grand, 505-seat Gannon Concert Hall to the intimate Corboy Jazz Hall, developed with a jazz-club setting in mind.  With the help of student musicians, hear how sounds vary in each hall and learn how acoustic experts engineered them specifically for particular types of music by using wall thickness, draping, and other acoustical elements. Whether or not you have a background in music, you’ll come away with a new appreciation of the perfect sound in a performance hall.

TIickets are required for this event.  Please visit the event website to purchase your ticket.
