Snacks will be Provided. Please email Elizabeth Boe (eboe@depaul.edu) to Sign-Up or with any questions.

Student/Non-Attorney and Attorney Volunteers will be trained on how to answer civil legal aid questions posted on PILI (the Public Interest Law Initiative)’s Free Legal Answers website by Illinois residents needing legal. With a short supply of legal aid lawyers, lower income Illinois residents rely on pro bono attorneys to answer their legal questions. In light of the vast economic and legal implications of the COVID-19 pandemic, this need is even greater. You do not have to have any subject area expertise to help!

Free Legal Answers Clinic Information:
What is Legal Answers? Legal Answers is a secure website where lower income Illinois residents can ask a lawyer for help with a legal issue. Qualified users post questions about civil legal problems.
A volunteer lawyer logs in to the site and then picks from a list of questions to answer. It is like a virtual walk-in legal clinic.

How the Legal Answers Clinic Day will work: Law students and lawyers will come together to answer genuine civil legal questions:
1) Students/Non-Attorneys research and draft an answer to questions posted on Free Legal
Answers.

2) CVLS Attorneys will be there as subject-area experts.

3) Lawyers check for accuracy and readability; then submit the answer.
