We are excited to announce that Actor Penn Badgley (star of Gossip Girl and YOU) and Dr. Nura Mowzoon are coming to DePaul University for a program, Can We Talk?. Penn has worked in the entertainment industry for the last twenty-five years, which has given him a particular grasp of the influences of mass storytelling and media. Nura teaches at Arizona State University and specializes in the field of human relationships. Together, they are eager to start a constructive dialogue with students, exploring how to shift our style of discourse from one of contention to one of cohesion and collaboration. In their presentation, they will explore issues such as the influence of media on interpersonal dynamics, the need all individuals have for connection and community, and how to have hard conversations regarding difficult and often polarizing topics. The event is free and open to all DePaul students, but space is limited and seats must be reserved through DeHub.
