About this Event
Join Geoff Nyheim, former Microsoft and Amazon leader and current DePaul Marketing Instructor, to learn how to assess your strengths, plan your path, successfully pursue opportunities, and confidently launch your career with internships and post-graduation jobs. This is an interactive, hands-on workshop designed for all students in all majors whether you are a freshman just starting your journey, a senior graduating at the end of this quarter, or a graduate student needing to refresh your perspective and value proposition. We will do real work: as individuals, in collaboration on 3 person teams, and to share challenges and best practices across the entire group. All examples used will feature current DePaul students and alums.
The agenda includes:
A. Self-Assessment: answering your question “Who am I and what are my strengths, purposes, and interests?”.
B. Academic and Career Planning: answering your question “What academic and career paths are the best fit for me?”.
C. Resume: answering your question “How do I write my story, value proposition, and objectives?”.
D. LinkedIn: answering your question “How do I promote my story, value proposition, and objectives?”.
E. Job Search: answering the question "How do I decide which companies and roles to pursue and how to get noticed?"
F. Interviewing: answering your question “How do I tell my story, value proposition, and objectives?”.
G Internship/Job offers: answering your question “How do I successfully negotiate for what’s most important to me?”.
Pizza and salads will be provided for lunch. Bring your own beverages. Please also bring your laptop or tablet, if available, along with some paper and a pencil or pen to complete the work we will do together.
