Pride Month is right around the corner! Join the Egan Office UECP at DePaul for a discussion highlighting points of connection between the BLM movement and its intersections with LBGTQ+ movement while providing resources and a network of support. . . . . This speaker series is a quarterly event where The Egan Office of Urban Education and Community Partnerships at DePaul University hosts conversations with community and movement builders, activists, and organizers in an effort to recognize the critical voices that give shape to The Chicago Mosaic. . . . . All events are free and open to the community. . . . . Meet the Panelists . . . . Lennex Cowan is from the small city, Lima, Ohio, but presently resides in Chicago, IL. Alongside working, Lennex is earning his Master of Arts degree in Critical Ethnic Studies with a concentration in African and Black Diaspora Studies this spring. Viggy Alexandersson values critical intentionality and praxis. In addition to being tenured English and interdisciplinary faculty at City Colleges of Chicago, Viggy’s background includes teaching K-12, test preparation, tutoring, non-profit management, and serving as coordinator and mentor for youth organizations focused on violence prevention, community engagement, and social activism in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Arizona, Guatemala, and Denmark. Viggy’s work, often rooted in postcolonial, ecocritical, intersectional feminist, and queer perspectives, has afforded Viggy panelist opportunities, such as the “Decolonizing Tactics” panel for the Chicago Humanities Festival. However, Viggy’s life’s purpose is to be an educator and cat guardian. Maintaining adaptive strategies for instruction, Viggy continuously updates Viggy’s own curriculum design, instruction, and research to reflect contemporary technology and culture.
