Often performed together, Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi are a set of one-act operas. Suor Angelica is an uplifting tale of redemption as a young, unmarried mother is separated from her child by her aristocratic family and confined to a convent. Gianni Schicchi is a comic opera full of greed and conniving as relatives gather after the death of one of their own, hoping for a share of the inheritance.
