Music for PRIDE! - concert music from LGBTQ composers featuring the DePaul Community Chorus; Stephen Blackwelder, conductor; Anna Kovalevska, pianist.

With Music for PRIDE! the DePaul Community Chorus salutes LGBTQ classical composers who endured lives of anxiety and oppression and overcame those challenges by writing hopeful music about a better future for all of us.  Of course, we’ll have choruses from Handel oratorio/opera plus sacred and secular music by Tchaikovsky. We’ll also present selections from the Poulenc Gloria, Copland’s The Tender Land, and Dame Ethel Smyth’s stunning Mass in D. The concert closes with These Things Shall Be, a romantic and inspiring work by John Ireland.

While masks are not required inside the Holtschneider Performance Center concert halls, DePaul University continues to be a mask-friendly campus, and wearing a mask will be highly recommended for all indoor spaces. Proof of vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test will no longer be required upon entry.  Details are found here.
