The DePaul Wind Ensemble's final concert of Winter Quarter invites a special collaboration with two DePaul University faculty members, Dr. Valerie Johnson, College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and Phyllis Griffin, The Theatre School.

The program features works by African American composers, Adolphus Hailstork and Omar Thomas, as well as a piece by Joseph Schwantner written for ensemble and narrator to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  As narrator, Professor Griffin will deliver excerpts from some of King's most powerful speeches.

The evening opens with a pre-concert lecture by Dr. Johnson who will discuss issues of civil rights past and present, and closes with a post-concert Q&A with the audience, Dr. Johnson and Professor Griffin.
