Designing Rubrics and Running Norming Sessions

This will be a combined workshop and will count as two elective workshops for those participating in the Assessment Certificate Program.
In the first half of this workshop, we will discuss rubrics, including different types of rubrics and the basics of designing and implementing rubrics to assess student learning. The second portion of this workshop will present the concept of a "norming session" or a formal opportunity for people who will be using a rubric to come together to agree on how the rubric will be applied. We will describe strategies for conducting a norming session and provide participants with an opportunity to practice some of the skills necessary to conduct a successful norming session.
This workshop will be offered in-person only.
