How do we travel and encounter each other? In the footsteps of Lord Byron, Emily Strangford and others in the nineteenth century, Edith Durham came to the Albanian lands as a traveller, researcher and humanitarian worker in the early twentieth century. One hundred years later, Elizabeth Gowing and Robert Wilton came to live and work in Kosovo and Albania. Through their writing, translation and activism, they have reflected on this beautiful part of Europe and the tradition of British travellers here. Some were trying to find; some were trying to escape. None of them was left unchanged by their Albanian encounters.
