What is a career fair?

A career fair is an event where several employers seek to recruit individuals towork for their organizations. It is an opportunity for employers to increaseawareness of their organization while conducting a preliminary assessment ofcandidates for existing or future positions.

Why should you attend?

Learn about multiple industries and their job and internship opportunities Meet face-to-face with employers and alumni mentors. Practice your personal pitch, interviewing skills, and network with recruiting professionals.Howshould you prepare?

Research companies and positions. Rather than spending time asking employers questions that have easy-to-find answers, focus on discussing how your skills and experiences match what they are looking for. Prepare yourelevator pitch. An elevator pitch is 30 second -1 minute pitch that shouldsummarize who you are, what you do, and why you would be a perfect candidate.Review yourresume. Visit the Career Center's Peer Career Advisors for a resume review. Peer Career Advisors are highly trained undergraduates who advise students andalumni concerning basic career related issues on a walk-in basis. Bring multiple copies of your updated resume to the fair.
