Workshops:

Self-Care Practices for the Workplace (Facilitator: Mycall Riley) While in college you may have been able to find spaces that were focused on your self-care, places where your identities were honored, and places where you could be you. This interactive workshop is both a skill share as well as an opportunity for students en route to graduation to hone skills that will make their transition to the workforce a bit easier.

Networking Re-imagined (Facilitator: Eva Long) Join Foram Soni Sheth, co-founder and professional of Ama La Vida, Chicago, a leading career, life and leadership coaching company to reimagine networking. It’s common knowledge that success is more about who you know than what you know. In the workplace, we often tend to focus our energy on expanding knowledge in lieu of networking. Networking is scary and is an acquired skill; it takes time and practice. Learn the tools and skills to reimagine what networking can look like to your advantage.

Better Black Business Series: Intra-preneurship (Guest Presenter: Florance Hardy) Participants will learn how to bring innovation to a process or product within their organization and will be empowered to branch out to become entrepreneurs in their field of choice. In a hybrid lecture/Q&A style workshop, topics such as taking charge of your career, how to be a leader in your organization, and how to identify organizations that value creativity and innovative thinking will be discussed.

Financial Literacy 101: Creating Your Financial Toolkit (Guest Presenter: Joanna Maravilla) Learn how to manage your finances, student loans, and receive resources for undocu/DACAmented students. At the end of the workshop you will walk away with a drafted financial plan. All students looking for ways to improve financial habits are invited!”

Have a Productive Summer While Still Living Your Best Life (Facilitator: Vanessa Martinez) While summer is absolutely a time to relax, it’s also a great time to get a head start on your career-planning that maybe gets neglected during the school year. Not sure where to start or feeling overwhelmed with your options? Join Margie McGee-Newton from the Career Center to learn more about the big and small ways you can be proactive this summer.
