Professor Robert Katz will introduce his book Antisemitism and the Law and discuss his pioneering law school course on antisemitism. He will also present his talk, “American Law’s Jewish Question: Religion, Race, and Free Speech in an Age of Campus Antisemitism.” The lecture explores how shifting legal categories (religion, race, ethnicity, and free speech) have shaped Jewish equality in the United States, and considers whether current legal doctrine can better protect Jewish students, religious and secular alike, amid rising campus antisemitism. The presentation will conclude with a Q&A session.
