Join Three Pearls Charities Inc. and the DePaul Center for Animal Law for a film screening of Lucy: The Stolen Lives of Elephants followed by a discussion with film director Fern Levitt.
Lucy: The Stolen Lives of Elephants is the FIRST documentary film to reveal the plight of elephants in captivity and investigate the lies that zoos tell the unknowing public under the guise of wildlife conservation and education. The event will conclude with a plant-based reception.

Bios:
Fern Levitt is an international award-winning documentary producer and director who personally interviewed several of the world’s most respected leaders including President Clinton and Bush Sr., Edward Shevardnadze, former Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Soviet Union and President of Georgia. President Vaclav Havel, former dissident and first President of a free Czechoslovakia and President Mikhail Gorbachev of the former Soviet Union. Ms. Levitt was chosen to direct a bio on President Gorbachev to mark the 20th anniversary of Perestroika. The film, Gorbachev’s Revolution, was presented at an evening honoring President Gorbachev in Washington D.C.
Jamie McLaughlin is an environmental and animal law attorney. As President of Three Pearls Charities, Inc., she works to develop innovative solutions to animal law issues. Her focuses are animals and technology, animal rights, and industrial animal agriculture. Jamie has worked as an attorney for the Nonhuman Rights Project and as a law clerk for Humane World, the Animal Legal Defense Fund and other nonprofits. She received her J.D. with a Certificate in Public Interest Law from DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, Illinois. Jamie received both her animal law LL.M. and environmental law LL.M. cum laude from Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon. She serves as Vice Chair of the ABA ILS International Animal Law Committee and as Vice Chair of the Missouri Bar Association Animal Law Committee.
