The second talk in this year's "Catolicismo, Cultura y Comida" series, organized by CWCIT and Tepeyac/Catholic Campus Ministry, this event features sister and brother scholars, Neomi DeAnda (University of Dayton) and Michael DeAnda (DePaul University). Join them to learn about the role of corn (maíz) through play, creation narratives, and catolicismo en América. This interactive evening will include learning about abundancia—the possibility of creating from little or nothing—through corn dolls.  

*Limited seating; light dinner will be served, including pan dulce y cafe.

:: About the Presenters ::
Neomi DeAnda is executive director of the International Marian Research Institute and also a professor of religious studies at the University of Dayton; she holds a PhD in constructive theology from Loyola University Chicago. 

Michael DeAnda is a senior professional lecturer of game development in DePaul’s College of Computing & Digital Media; he holds a PhD from Illinois Institute of Technology in technology and humanities.
