DESCRIPTION:On Thursday\, Nov. 14\, Jose Antonio Vargas will speak as part 
 of the 2019-20 President’s Lecture Series. Vargas is a journalist and im
 migration rights activist. All are welcome to attend. \n\nVargas founded t
 he “Define American” nonprofit organization\, which seeks to inspire d
 ialogue about the criteria people use to define who is an American. Vargas
  is an undocumented immigrant who emigrated from the Philippines to Americ
 a at age 12. He revealed his status in a New York Times article he wrote i
 n 2011 with the intent of advocating for the DREAM Act and promoting dialo
 gue about the United States’ immigration system. \n\nVargas also has an 
 extensive journalism background having worked for the "San Francisco Chron
 icle\," "The Huffington Post\," the "Philadelphia Daily News" and the "Was
 hington Post." He was a part of the "Washington Post" team that reported o
 n the Virginia Tech shooting in 2008\, which earned them the Pulitzer Priz
 e for Breaking News Reporting in both online and print formats.
