Ossama Abdelgawwad will present a public lecture entitled, "Telling Lies: How did al-Subki Assess Falsehood in his Hermeneutical Theory?" in which he explores the acceptability of lying in medieval Islamic law and theology through an analysis of the writing of 14th century jurist al-Subki. Free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
