Sitarist Sahana Banerjee will perform a recital of classical Hindustani music alongside tabla player Praveen Narayanaswamy. Sahana is a distinguished performer from the Rampur Senia Gharana, who traces her lineage back generations to Mia Tansen. She is touring the US and will share an evening of improvised music based on Hindustani ragas with the DePaul community. Praveen Narayanaswamy is renowned for his knowledge of Hindustani rhythmic traditions, and he has also collaborated with musicians across the globe in many traditions, including South Indian Carnatic music and jazz.

The South Asian Classical Music Society was founded in Chicago as a not for profit organization in 2014 with the mission of creating a shared space in the community through promoting classical Indian music and other traditional musical forms from South Asian region. Over the years, they have been able to carve a niche for themselves bringing together a cross cultural community with the intent to providing an enriching educative concert experience in an intimate setting.
