Strengthening Creative and Critical Thinking with Improvisation

In this workshop, we will discuss facets of creative and critical thinking and explore these two modes of thinking with improvisational exercises. Improvisation can be used as a powerful tool to stimulate creative and critical thinking, strengthen interpersonal collaboration, enhance empathy, and spark long-lasting and meaningful experiential education. The artistic exercises in this workshop will help students take ownership of their learning and experience the important skill of face-to-face active listening.

By engaging in improvisational activities, participants will experience authentic classroom collaboration that transcends academic disciplines or concentrations. All who attend this workshop should expect to leave with a strong handle on the importance of student connection and empathy in the classroom.
