Volunteers Needed! International Journal on Homelessness 2023 Conference

The Ruff Institute of Global Homelessness is recruiting approximately 70 volunteers for its upcoming conference on March 21, 22, and 23 at the Student Center on the Lincoln Park campus. You’ll be able to meet and mingle and learn with guests from more than 20 different countries all studying and working to end homelessness in different contexts. We have a particular need to fill the following roles:

In-person breakout room hosts

In this role, volunteers will be assigned to host a particular breakout room. You will ensure that the room is set up and clean, that the speakers have everything that they need, make opening remarks (script will be provided), ensure that attendees complete the sign in sheet, manage the time for each speaker, facilitate Q&A, and ensure that the room is cleaned up after the session.

Virtual breakout room hosts

In this role, volunteers will be assigned to host the virtual side of a particular breakout room. You will ensure that the virtual room is open at least 5 minutes before the session begins, that the technology is working appropriately (troubleshooters will be standing by), that online guests are welcomed (script will be provided), that the chat / Q&A functions are monitored and fed forward to the speakers as appropriate, and that online guests are thanked and the room is properly closed after the session.

Please email Lydia Stazen at lstazen@ighomelessness or Veronica Dykstra at vdykstra@depaul.edu to express your interest in volunteering.
