Writing and Rhetoric Across Borders: Dr. Kristin Bivens

The Speaker Series Committee is excited to announce the Winter Quarter events for our Writing & Rhetoric Across Borders speaker series. We will be welcoming Dr. Kristin Bivens on Wednesday, January 22. Dr. Bivens is an Associate Professor at Harold Washington College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago. She is a medical rhetorician and seasoned first year writing teacher.

On Wednesday January 22nd from 4:30-6:00 pm in McGowan South 103, Dr. Bivens will present her research talk titled, “A Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Soundscape: Physiological Monitors, Rhetorical Ventriloquism, and Earwitnessing.”

In addition to her research talk, Dr. Bivens will lead a syllabi workshop from 11-1:30 in Arts and Letters 408. The workshop is titled, “Designing Syllabi for Diverse Student Users: Content and Access.”

Additional information is included in the attached flyer. Light refreshments will be provided at both events. The Speaker Series Committee hopes you’ll be able to join us for one or both of these events.
